❀ Yippee first entry!

　　Ok, I may as well get all this stuff out of the way. I've never actually made a website before so this feels... odd, typing this all out in code. But hey, maybe I'll get used to it? It's really cool having my own little personalized website! It's about time I did something like this anyway. I love customizing stuff :-)

　　So... uclo updates, huh? Uhh I've never done archival stuff like this before either so let's see how this goes. Hoping that this will be the start of something awesome and that I do NOT forget about it! Coding this site has been a trip and a half.

　　At the moment, the story is undergoing its second serious overhaul, since late February 2020. Aside from keeping core concepts and ideas it's basically a blank slate as it stands. I'm very excited about it though! I've wanted to do a refresh on it for so long now. Like spring cleaning, it feels like. Lately I've been at work on the very basics; foundational stuff that will help us later down the line. The primary things I have done so far (outside of character tweaks and such) are rework some relationships between characters, and crack down on Dr. Dominique's journey to where she is now, as well as how that fully affects the story. Basically, I'm hoping to tie both Doe and the Symbiodinium Initiative into the theme it has exhibited with true cryptids. The concept of true cryptids being a higher power hasn't been taken advantage of in the past, so I think it would be really cool to make it a deeper, more widespread theme!

　　I've always been a bit fond of true cryptids' position in the world. They're a fairly new concept in comparison to the rest of the story (as is the Initiative and Dr. Dominique's place in the story as its main antagonist,) which makes it understandable as to why they haven't been integrated as well as they could... but I'm gonna try to get that fleshed out right off the bat, if I can help it! And it's going pretty well so far.

　　Cryptids have as vast capacity for variety as they do because they all come from a completely malleable "base substance" of which I have not yet figured out the specifics of. There is more of a difference between earth-native cryptids and true cryptids in how, as opposed to incomprehensible cosmic power, the cryptids living underneath humans are constrained to the human perception, and thus human knowledge, and after intermingling with the human race for thousands of years have melded to that limited understanding of the world. In a sense, humanity's folklore and fairytales, as well as their understanding of cryptids, came to life as a result. Additionally, all earth-native cryptids are human in some way, and such has caused their "base substance" to solidify somewhat, which contributes to the restriction in which how complex their individual concepts can be.
